On behalf of CVMS, the PTSA and the Volunteer Coordinators, thank you so much for taking time from your busy schedule to volunteer at your child's Middle School. Many of these volunteer opportunities are necessary to help provide the programs and quality of education our students receive at CVMS. Volunteering can also help you to stay connected with your child and with your childs school. We welcome you to Carmel Valley Middle School and welcome any volunteer time you can give us.
8th Grade Promotion: Assist with the planning and executing of the 8th grade promotion.

Academic Boosters/Science Olympiad: Assist with the various academic teams, drive to events, assist with trophies and end of event parties.

Attendance/Assistant Principals Office: Answer phones, file, maintain athletic records, answer parent and student parent and student questions. May be responsible to cover nurses office when needed. Share receptionist jobs as needed. This is a one day per week position and the commitment is for the entire school year. Training will be provided by the office staff. Report to attendance secretary.

Career Faire: Assist chairperson with organizing and setting up the faire. Also, if you have an interest in speaking to the students that day, please let us know. We are looking for people in all walks of life - firefighters, police officers, doctors, nurses, stock brokers, scientists, small business owners, politicians, teachers, astronauts, someone in construction or building development, bankers, communication - radio, TV, jounalism, writers, property owners, retail, military, etc.

Lunch line Volunteer: Get a first hand look at what your kids and their friends really eat for lunch. This is a critical position and lots of fun. Man the pizza cart or work one of the 8 lunch lines one day a week. No experience necessary. Easy training. Commitment is for the entire school year.

Lunch Time Assistance: Be an adult presence on campus during lunch one day a week. We are not asked to discipline, but to be a presence on campus while the students are on their lunch break.

Magazine Drive: Assist ASB students with collecting and counting money for magazine subscription fundraiser. Also assist handing out prizes.

Media Center: Help CVMS library staff during the morning and/or lunch hour. Volunteers are also needed to help with ongoing library specific projects i.e.: printing out of overdue book notices, processing new books.

Music Boosters: Help out in the Music Department as needed. Especially great for parents of Music students!

Orientation Day: (in August for 7th graders and new students). Set up and work various stations, sell gym clothes, take down displays and stations

Reading Mentor: Assist a middle school student one-on-one in the area of reading two days a week. Training provided.

Receptionist/Office: Answer phones, file, Xerox and other various clerical duties. Be flexible as some days you may be busy and other days be sure to bring your book and relax! Training will be provided by the office staff. Report to Sandra Madrigal in the school office. One day per week commitment for the entire school year.

Red Ribbon Week: Assist chairperson with organizing anti-drug, alcohol and cigarette education materials and programs for the students

Reflections Program: Assist Reflections chairperson in organizing CVMS program. A PTA nationally sponsored Art, Literature and Music competition, usually in the Fall.

Short Notice & Substitute Help: This is perhaps the most critical of all volunteer positions. We need a long list of people who can be available on a moments notice to cover any number of school activities. These are one-shot, fill-in-as-you-can events. MOMS, DADS AND GRANDPARENTS·there are so many ways you can help out at your child's school.
